Labor Day Weekend & Great Weather

Captain Chris Kimrey - Friday, August 31, 2018

Finally, we've had some awesome weather here on the Crystal Coast this past week and the forecast looks pretty great for Labor Day weekend. The water here on the Crystal Coast has lived up to it's name, it's been super clear, crystal blue and absolutely beautiful When the water is clear, it makes for fun and awesome fishing. When the weather and the water cooperate like this, we love heading out the inlet and fishing off of Atlantic Beach and near Cape Lookout.  Read More

Old Drum & Popping Corks

Captain Chris Kimrey - Friday, August 24, 2018

It's old drum season! A lot of our charters lately have been in search of big ole drum in the Neuse River! This time of year, drum of all sizes can be caught depending on the time of day you're out fishing. Early morning and late evening fishing in the Neuse River and near the town of Oriental typically lead us to find the really large old drum. We've had some great luck in the mornings using popping corks! Fishing with popping corks means never a dull moment. Popping corks draw attention to the bait with a clicking sound that is similar to that of shrimp, crabs or baitfish. When the cork is jerked by the rod, the bait "jumps" from the bottom and reflects the movement of fleeing bait. This is a great method to use in the Neuse River where the waters can get a bit rough and cloudy.  Read More

Aside from snapper fishing, we've been spending some time in the Neuse River fishing for drum and even some time out in the ocean with fairly calm waters.  Read More

Captain Chris Kimrey - Thursday, October 12, 2017

If you live anywhere in eastern North Carolina, you know that although we're into our second week in October, the weather sure doesn't feel like it. The warm temperatures and high humidity have it feeling more like August, but we can't complain. October's fishing has started out good and we're looking forward to some cooler temperatures later in the month and into November.  Read More

Drum Fishing In The Neuse

Captain Chris Kimrey - Monday, September 25, 2017

It's officially fall! We're excited for fall fishing and all of the fun catches that are to come this season. This past week has been full of fun trips to the Neuse River catching drum. From slots to old drum, we've been catching them all! Typically, the large, old drum bite is on when the sun goes down. Luckily, this year we've been able to find the old drum in the afternoon and into dusk. Not only is old drum fishing a ton of fun - if you've ever reeled in one of the big ones, you know! - but you also get to take in a beautiful sunset from one of the best spots in eastern North Carolina. There's nothing like watching the sun go down over the water on the Neuse River!  Read More

In fact, the first day of fall is coming right up next week on September 22nd! Just because the summer season is over doesn't mean that fishing on the Crystal Coast comes to a halt. Fall fishing on the Crystal Coast can be fun and plentiful!  Read More
