Fishing Reports

It's Cobia Season on The Crystal Coast!

Captain Chris Kimrey - Friday, May 25, 2018

We've been waiting all year and the time has finally come! The cobia are here on the Crystal Coast and we couldn't be more excited! If you love fishing and you've never experienced cobia fishing, we highly recommend you book a charter as soon as possible! We still have several open days available.

In an effort to assist the NC Division of Marine Fisheries in studying the migration, growth and habitat use, we have been participating the in fish tagging program. If you are out fishing in your own and catch a tagged fish, please take these steps to help us and the NC Division of Marine Fisheries assess the fish populations, specifically cobia!

1. Cut off the tag(s)

2. Write down the tag number, catch date, location and length of fish

Save the tag and other information

4. Call the division at 800-682-2632 or report the tag online by clicking here

Cobia tags are worth a $100 reward. We've tagged quite a few fish so far this year, so be on the look out! The information that the NC Division of Marine Fisheries gathers from these tags will help not only monitor the cobia population but gather data to determine regulations in the future.

If you're interested in booking a charter with Capt. Chris and want to catch cobia, call us today at (252) 342-0464.
