With all of the rain here lately on the Crystal Coast, we're ready to get back out on the water and catch some fish. Late summer and early fall fishing here on the Crystal Coast is typically super fun and active and more enjoyable with less boat traffic than in the summer time. So, what can you expect to catch in August and September here in eastern North Carolina? We're catching bull red drum in the early mornings using popping corks. After the bite dies off, we'll head to a different spot to catch puppy drum, trout and trying some flounder fishing - you may even catch your dinner for the evening. When you hop on the boat in Atlantic Beach, we'll head to the Neuse River or Pamlico sound as the sun comes up in search for bull red drum. We'll be using popping corks to catch bull drum, which is always fun and exciting! Popping corks draw attention to the bait with a clicking noise similar to that of shrimp, crabs or baitfish. When the cork is jerked by the rod, the bait jumps from the bottom and mimics the movement of fleeing bait. This method works especially well in the Neuse River and Pamilco Sound where waters can get a little rocky and cloudy.
Whether you're a year-round local here on the Crystal Coast or you plan on spending some time in Morehead City, Atlantic Beach, Beaufort or Emerald Isle in August or September, you don't want to miss out on a day of fun on the water with Capt. Chris! Call today to find out what we have available for the rest of this month and in September and book your charter today!
